Seventh grade has given me many fun memories, but here are three. One of my favorite memories I’m looking forward to from my core class in middle school is that we are going present, Night at the Museum for our twenty percent project. My class did trifolds that showed our topic we were going to talk about, and along that with a script to present our topic, which I look forward to. I really hope it doesn’t rain, our trifolds are going outside and we are going to present outside. So far I came back from this event and it was a blast. I saw my other classmates trifold and they looked very interesting. My second memory I really enjoyed was when it was raining and I wa with my friends trying to run to lunch getting to dry space, but later on went inside a classroom with my friends and ate lunch, and talked. The giggles and smiles made me laugh and smile too. My last memory I enjoyed a lot was when it was day of the dead and I bought some horchata with friends and we ran to the line and we talked how we liked the drinks and went back to our space laughing and walking together.
20% Project – Week 6
Some successes I experienced this last week was crocheting some of the rounds of the elephant correct. This last week was a bit of struggle because I couldn’t really keep track of my rounds since I got confused along the way. Also the patterns involved when I increased my crochet stitches was hard for me to keep up with in the process of making the amigurumi plushie. This last week I made a few adjustments for the rounds. When making the elephant. I was trying to mark each beginning round with my stitch markers, and making sure I could attach the heart to elephant, but be careful how I attached it to the body so I could stuff the body in the process. In the end it came out sort of okay, and not too bad, but not too good. I hope you enjoyed all these blogs for my twenty percent project.
Mother’s Day Appreciation
My mum is the most smart woman in my life. One thing that makes my mom special to me is that she loves to do activities and get outdoors, I’d say she’s very outdoorsy. Even if it’s hot she still wants to be outside because she likes nature. My favorite thing about her is that she pushes me to do things even if it seems impossible. In school she always pushed herself to get good grades, which I was surprised how smart she was as a child. I mean like wow! But Something I didn’t know about her was she likes math a lot. I don’t really like mathematics much at all, but I suppose it is kind of interesting. A memory I cherish a lot and think about is when I wanted to give up playing tennis because I couldn’t swing correctly, my mom showed me to not give up, but instead persevere to become better and also have fun no matter what.
20% Project-Week 5
This week was amazing and I was almost able to accomplish crocheting my pumpkin, but ran out of time to finish doing twenty rows. To start off crocheting my pumpkin I chained twelfth, then two single crochets, then did about 7 half double crochets. Then I did the gathering stitch to bring together my pumpkin from the top, and after that, I used the whip stitch the get the side together closed up. Then with the leaf, I attached it not in the opening, but near it. Then down I put the thread and the other thread from the leaf, I tied it. I give shape of a pumpkin, when tying off the pumpkin , I tied it in a plus, so I tied it straight left, and straight up. That gave the shape of the pumpkin. This week was a great week and I didn’t have any struggles at all. Since nothing went wrong, I had no adjustments to make. But next week, I will be working on to crochet an Amigurumi elephant.
Rad Reading-April
I have not finished reading this book yet, I am currently on page 113. The book I am currently reading is The Half Moon by Mary Beth Keane. This book is about family, consistency of many characters. Malcolm Gephardt a bartender, who has been there a long time, at Half Moon. He has always wanted to own his very own bar, and his boss retires, he wants to buy the place to own and work in. But he struggles along the path and way. His wife Jess, in law career has tried to have a baby, but doesn’t seem to go that way. She feels her youth is falling behind and wonders how she can stay stable and make her future stable. I so far like the book because it is really different from the others books I have read so far, and isn’t like the other books in the genre way. I really don’t have a favorite character so far, but I like how she is optimistic. A quote to show this is, “ Jess felt mortified for three seconds, and then absolutely furious. this shows she is a bit temperamental, and can show many emotions that she feels in her presence in that moment. My favorite quote is, “His mind blearly, he thought for a moment that the noise came from inside the house, but then he heard another crack and looked over in time to glimpse a large, dark shape passing through his bedroom window.” This quote kind of gave me the chills down the spine, because images seeing that and not knowing what it is? Alone? Or was it just him dreaming?
20% Project – Week 4
This week was amazing overall and my this week my goal was to accomplish crocheting an octopus. I was able to accomplish crocheting an octopus. Another few things I did was over the weekend, I learned how to do a bobble stitch, and double crochet stitch. But not mastered. I learned these stitches while crocheting a bunny. This week I had no struggles for my 20% project. This week I made an adjustment while working on my octopus. I didn’t know how to attach my last piece to the octopus, so I just put it in the opening where I put the stuffing. Next week I will be working on crocheting a pumpkin and if I have time, I will crochet a star. I think I want to also accomplish mastering the bobble stitch more than the first time I learned how to. Thank you for reading my blog, see you next time!
20% Project – Week 3
This week was amazing in the beginning of starting to crochet my flower, but something unexpectedly happened in the process. The struggle I experienced this week was running out of yarn during the process of crocheting the flower pattern. I think next time I will be more prepared so I won’t go through this again. At home, crocheted the rest to finish. I tied a knot to the yarn that was hanging from the flower petal to attach it, so I could continue on the stitch I was on. to Honestly this week was really easy as the instructions were really clear the video, and I loved how is was turning out throughout the hour. Next week I will be working on an Amigurumi octopus. But I will add the middle part to the flower because I have only done the petals so far, and had many strings on the hook to keep track of when to pull and to also get a new string, and or stitch. I may attach also a stem and leaves to make it nice and so I may learn another stitch. Also add safety eyes and use the threading needle to that. I hope you enjoyed weeks three blog, see you next time!
Favorite Room
My favorite room in my home is the bedroom I share. First off, a reason I like the bedroom I share is that I have a desk with stationary and also a lamp. My desk provides a quiet space for me to work and so I do not get distracted. Another reason why the bedroom is my favorite room to be in is because, I have a window near my desk so I don’t easily get overheated. In conclusion, I focus more when I am alone, and more work gets done in the process of being focused. These three reasons is why my favorite room in my house is the bedroom I share.
20% Project – Week 2
This week I watched a video on how to make a tiny ghost and a small brown bear. This week was amazing and actually I learned how to double crochet. This week I did not struggle. Because I forgot my tools, I continued my project at home. I crocheted a ghost at home. It was not hard at all. I used a stitch markers to help mark the points where I started and ended. A sewing needle was used in the process. This helped add detail to my work, the ghost, which was to add blush to it. Next week I will be making a pink flower, and if I finish, I will crochet an ice cream, probably not, or a turtle. A turtle likely would take an hour or so. I will likely make a mini flower, if I have leftover time to crochet in the spare time if possible. Thank you for reading my blog see you next week!
My Weekend at Palm Springs
On a late afternoon Friday, my parents decided we should go somewhere relaxing for the weekend. Palm Springs! Supposedly they wanted to go last week, but they didn’t have time that week. We packed our necessities and essentials. If I had know about where we were going earlier I would have went to the store to get snacks. It was too late anyway. I wished my mom and dad told my sister in the morning, ahead of time. She takes forever to get ready. I was ready to leave, so I settled down at the dinner table and waited for my family to come downstairs. I heard the sound of my sister coming down the stairs, which felt like forever. My parents said, “Come on we are going to be stuck in traffic!” And off we went. Short story, we ended up in traffic anyway. Even though we left early, it didn’t change anything. Vroom! I always feel really car sick whenever I went I go on a car trip. I rolled down the car window to let some fresh air in. This usually helps me not get car sick on road trips. To get to Palm Springs, it takes about an hour from Orange County to Palm Springs, but for us, it took us two hours to get to Palm Springs. We were going into the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway. We arrived at night. I was so tired. My parents booked a hotel for only a night. Anyhow, I woke up, got ready, and we gathered our bags and headed down out of the hotel. The bags felt so heavy. Almost felt like the bags were filled with big rocks and nothing else but that. My family and I loaded our things into the car and drove up to go to the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway. While driving, it felt steep or that the car could suddenly stumble down anytime. I opened the car door and put on my blue sweater over my long sleeve. My sister didn’t really wear the right attire for the snow, good thing my mom got snow attire. Up we made our way to the aerial tramway. I was so excited to see some snow!! My mom and I said excited to each other, “I hope we can see snowfall!” When entering, I saw the temperature supposedly it was going to be up in the mountain station. We missed the one we were supposed to ride in, but it was ok. Walking down the line, I saw the open exit to line up for the aerial tramway. Once we walked to the line, my family and I walked in, so we could go see the snow. The person who was there asked us, “Would you guys like a photo together?” We responded in unison, “Yes please.” Off went the camera, Click! As we walked away, our rough shoes scraped the floor, making a sound of a rhythmic tapping noise. For a few minutes, I was thinking about what we would see up in the mountains, would it snow? Anyway, we were boarding soon, so in the meantime, I watched the tv in front of me. A few minutes later, they said to get ready to board. We soon started gathered around to board. Clunk! Clunk! The aerial tramway was making its way down here with people. The aerial tramway was hanged from the towers as it seemed to walk up the view of mountains leading to the mountain station. It was our turn to go, so up we went the wobbly route up. The side were rotating! I felt like it could fall since it was high up, and near these points, the towers. Almost like a jelly waiting to be sunken to the ground! Finally arriving after a solid 10 minutes. It was freezing cold. It started raining, so we got inside quite frantically, to the mountain station. Along we brought our bags carried onto our backs. We were hungry, I hadn’t ate much so my mom and dad said , “ Do you guys want food? It’s been quite a while.” Me and my sister said, “ Yes let’s go.” We caught site of food, and so we went. I saw pizza, so I asked my parents if we could have some, responding with a yes. Seeing the gooey cheesy pizza, we asked the server, with a slice server if my sister and I could have a slice of pizza. My dad also wanted a slice so we waited. Being ready to pay, my mom wanted something too, so she got a sandwich with veggies, cheese, and ham. We paid at the cash register, got napkins and sat down. All of us got full so we went outside. It started snowing! Oh my gosh! It got cold. We entered quickly inside. After eating and the weather calmed down, we went outside to walk in the snow left previous from earlier. We changed into warm clothes in the bathrooms, and walked down the steep small slopes getting more horizontal. After walking enough to get to the trail, we found a tree stump that looked like a big chair. We took photos sitting on it and looked around to see snow and my sister and I picked up the fluffy, cold, icy, snow forming into a round snowball. We had a snow fight. After, we ate some snacks on a bench and rested from having so much fun. Following the trail, trees covered in blobs of snow, we all walked along to another bridge and crossed to see a stream flowing down the bridge beneath us. Click! Click! It felt nice in the snow. Peaceful really. I looked up to the cloudy sky, seeing little star snowflakes. I had never seen such tiny ones. What a delightful day I had. My mom was so cheerful, since he hasn’t never seen snow fall ever. All of us so happy. It was really a wonderful moment we had experienced that day.
